The fitness of both central defenders has been a major headache for interim first-team coach Roberto Di Matteo, who admitted that he was struggling to have an 18-man squad available for the final in Munich .

Yesterday was the first day that Cahill and Luiz have both trained with the rest of the first-team squad after suffering hamstring injuries last month. It appears that Di Matteo will risk both with first-team coach Eddie Newton suggesting that the starting XI had already been selected.
Cahill said: "This was my first session with the boys and it was good. Moving around, doing everything and, touch wood, no reaction. Thankfully it's healed quickly."
Luiz also looked to be moving easily at Chelsea 's open training session and his fitness, in particular, will be a relief to Di Matteo, given his depleted resources.
